Each shadowing accommodation is individualized to meet the needs of your child. Our level of involvement will be in accordance with the classroom’s expectations identified during initial interviews with teachers and in-school observations.
By collaborating with local schools and school systems, we are expanding the availability of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in our region. As permitted, we will work in collaboration with schools to provide direct ABA assessments, services, and training to parents, teachers, and school staff.
At A Behavioral Approach, we understand that the best place we can help your family is in the home. That is why we offer an in-home therapy program that offers the same caliber of therapy you can expect from our in-clinic programs. In addition, our in-home programs allow us to generalize skills to the natural environment. It also allows for continuous involvement of the parents and siblings.
Despite age or skill level each student receives Verbal Behavior Therapy (VBT). This is also known as Applied Verbal Behavior (AVB).
VBT is based on behaviorist B.F. Skinner’s functional analysis of verbal behavior (Skinner, 1957). It is different from other language theories that emphasize the cognitive or physiological process of language development. Instead, it involves a functional analysis of the individual’s receptive and expressive language repertoires that are used to develop language and communication skills.
For Parents & Caregivers
Consultation Services
Whether your child is receiving ongoing therapy or you simply want guidance, we offer exceptional consultation services to keep you on the right track. Our BCBA can help you set up an in-home program and provide you with support for a short-term goal. We can also supervise your child’s progress in various placements to make sure that their time is not wasted in their development.
We know that parents have a lot on their plate, and our BCBAs are ready to use their extensive experience and education in ABA to help you and your child achieve your goals. Our team offers in-person consultations, in the comfort of your own home, or in our clinic.
Training & Education
In addition to providing therapy and consultation services for families, we want you to receive parent training services as part of your child's ABA treatment. Parent training is a required part of our services during treatment with your child. This is so we can all be a consistent and cohesive team that propels your child to more rapid and lasting success.
Our training can be customized to fit your schedule and desired level of knowledge. Training can be provided in your home or in our clinic. Parent training sessions are conducted by your child's BCBA to ensure all your questions are answered. After our training, you will feel confident in not only the therapy your child is receiving, but also in your ability to handle your child's behavior and development in the home.
